The year 2024–2025 marks a significant chapter in my medical journey as I entered the third year of MBBS at Aziz Fatima Medical and Dental College. This year served as a bridge between the basic sciences and the clinical world, giving me hands-on exposure in hospital wards along with the introduction of major clinical subjects.
Academically, I focused on three core disciplines: Pharmacology, Pathology, and Forensic Medicine.
- Pharmacology: I studied how different drugs interact with the body and how they are used to treat various diseases. I learned about drug mechanisms, therapeutic uses, side effects, and clinical applications—essential knowledge for safe and effective patient care.
- Pathology: Helped me understand the nature of disease processes, including their causes, development, and effects on the body. Through microscopic examination and case discussions, I developed the ability to connect pathological changes with clinical symptoms and diagnostic findings.
- Forensic Medicine: I explored the interface of medicine with law. This subject introduced me to medico-legal responsibilities, post-mortem examinations, and legal aspects of healthcare—vital for any practicing doctor.
This year also marked my active participation in clinical ward rotations, where I began attending hospital postings in Medicine, Surgery, and Gynaecology & Obstetrics. These experiences brought me closer to real patients, helping me observe, learn, and assist in patient care under supervision.
In the Medicine ward, I improved my skills in history taking and clinical examination, while in the Surgery ward, I observed surgical procedures and learned about pre- and post-operative patient care. In Gynae/Obs, I developed an understanding of women’s health, pregnancy management, and common obstetric and gynecological conditions.
This year was not just about knowledge, but also about responsibility, communication, and learning to think like a doctor. It has been one of the most engaging and inspiring phases of my MBBS life so far—strengthening both my clinical skills and my commitment to the medical profession.
